Prayer of the people | August 24

O

ur Lord God this night we bow before you in worship.
Lord God, our creator, you behold beauty which we can only imagine.
We are in awe that despite this you chose to gaze on us and this broken world.
Thank you that you came in the person of Jesus Christ to heal, to restore, to forgive and to save.
We praise you for our new life in Christ.
We pray that you will continue your healing, restoration and your salvation through us, your children.

Lord in your mercy.

We pray for the church, world wide, and for those experiencing persecution.
We pray especially for the church in the Sudan, Somalia, China and Iran.
Lord we pray that you will give strength to your people.

Lord in your mercy.

Lord we praise you for the Anglican Church of Canada.
For our bishops, priests and deacons.
For Jamie, Catherine and Helen and for your children of First Nation’s background.
Give them peace and healing.
Send your reconciliation between them and the church, that we all may sing your praises in our many sanctuaries.

Lord in your mercy.

We pray for the places in the world that need your peace, especially for Afghanistan and Iraq.
Comfort the families of our fallen soldiers.

Lord in your mercy.

We pray for those who mourn.
Send your comfort.
For those who thirst and hunger physically and spiritually, feed us Lord.
We pray for prisoners.
We pray for those who are sick.
Now we pray aloud, or in silence, for those we love and for whom prayers are desired.

Lord in your mercy.
