Prayers of the people | June 7

I

call the community into a time of prayer.

God you call each one of us to be ambassadors of your love. As children of grace we have been born anew, and our love and commitment for the people around us is such that, while it seems impossible by this world’s standards, it is bound up in you. May we be active in our lives, listening well to hear your voice, and lending our ear to those around us who in turn may come to hear your voice as well.
All praise and honour and glory and power, we praise Your name forever.

We pray for our community of saint benedict’s table. As we gather may we be present in the moment with you and with each other, bound in the now. With lives that are laden with so much, may this time be an opportunity to come together to share our collective work with you. May our praise, song and prayer be a worthy offering and may our spirits be filled anew as a result of having taken part.
All praise and honour and glory and power, we praise Your name forever.

We pray for the greater church throughout the world. Though separated by time and space, may we be continually united in who we are by you, God, loving because we were first loved. We pray in particular for the Sisters of the Church in Burlington who this day pray for us, for Lola and Roger and the Home Uganda effort and for Agape Table. May those who are a blessing to others, be blessed in return.
All praise and honour and glory and power, we praise Your name forever.

We pray for this city and all those who call it home. For those who live in abundance and for those who struggle just to make it to the next day, may we be continually mindful of the lives around us and may your goodness Lord be felt by and known to all.
All praise and honour and glory and power, we praise Your name forever.

We pray for the needs of the world, both near and far, and for those who’s lives are torn by violence and unrest. May we be unsettled every time we hear news, never growing complacent in our own comforts. For the losses, the sacrifices and for those who mourn.
All praise and honour and glory and power, we praise Your name forever.

We pray for the needs of those known to us; for those who are sick or suffering, alone or isolated, or who have other needs and challenges. We continue to pray in particular for the family and friends of Gerald Folkerts during this time of mourning. I invite you now to pray aloud the names of those known to you…
For those named, thought of and forgotten.
All praise and honour and glory and power, we praise Your name forever.

Amen.
