Prayers of the People September 27

Let us call the community into a time of prayer

G

od, we sometimes do things, say things, and think things that hurt us or others.  Help us to know that our sins are reconciled through Christ, that with your help we can be healed and choose life giving actions.   And with your help forgive ourselves by letting Christ do the forgiving.  Lord in Your Mercy,

God, the city of Winnipeg is overwhelmed with an increase in violent acts and we seek your love to help us to heal the wounds. We seek courage and wisdom to create preventative programs so violence is so readily used.  We pray for a decrease in guns and knives on the street.  We pray for safe neighborhoods. We pray for an alternative to gang life for some of our young people, a life that builds up the community they live in. Lord in Your Mercy

God we pray for Home/Omuka in Uganda in the care of Lola and Roger. May there be an increase in financial resources so more young people can live at the home and go to school.  We pray for the works of love of the Sisters of the Church in Burlington Ontario.  We pray for Agape Table at All Saints Church. May there always be enough food at Agape Table to feed all those who come to their doors.  We pray for all people who give their time and resources to various social agencies throughout Winnipeg. Lord in Your Mercy

God we pray for your Church today, may all the Bishops, Priests, Deacons, Church Councils, and facilitators of various ministries seek to serve all people, may they discern how to best lead, may they know how to best meet the needs of their attendees and neighborhoods. Lord in Your Mercy

God we pray for those afflicted by illness, accidents, and diseases.  In the midst of the suffering may the families and friends know that their prayers of love do strengthen their loved ones.  In the midst of the healing encourage all caregivers with support of others and caring hearts.  In the times of tragedy may your presence be felt, may the sufferer know you are near always by their side.  Lord in Your Mercy

Let us now take a moment to speak the names of those we hold in our hearts at this time.__________________

For all those names spoken and unspoken, and for those we may have forgotten, we ask you God to take our prayers and may it be your will that is to be done.  Lord in Your Mercy

God we pray for all mourners; mourners who have had a loved die, mourners of end of relationships, mourners of lost ability, mourners of friends and family who have moved away, mourners of deceased pets, mourners of lost dreams. Mourners of changed workplaces, mourners of lost jobs, and mourners of lost income.   Heal all mourners in the name of Jesus Christ your Son.  Lord in Your Mercy
