Prayers of the People | November 28

Inow call the community into a time of prayer. Almighty God, we give you thanks for new beginnings, and for the church, in the many forms it takes throughout the world.  Send your spirit everywhere that we your children gather, in all our diversity. In anticipation of what you have in store for us, we ask you to unite us in awe and love of you.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Awesome God, in our homes and communities, and throughout the world, there is fear and injustice.  Show us, O God, how to open your way into every place where people are hurting.  Renew us with your grace, that we would be merciful; and encourage all who struggle daily in expectation that your kingdom will come.  Turn us away from our greed, and towards relationship with you, the most enduring treasure.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Protector God, we who are gathered here offer into your care all those known to us.  Comfort those who are cold, unwell, or anxious.  Safely deliver travelers to their destinations.  Trusting in your grace, Lord, we name those whose needs are known to us: aloud or in our hearts…….Among us also are those blind to our own need.  Teach us to see, to name, to confess, and to trust in the renewing and healing power of forgiveness.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Eternal God, grant a peaceful end and eternal rest to all who are dying, and, in your mercy hear our lamentations; lead those who grieve to your comfort and give hope to those who mourn.  Even amidst our sorrow, reveal to us the riches that you have promised, and that we eagerly await.

Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,  Amen.
