Prayers of the People | December 26

A lmighty God,  We give thanks for your church, and for the many chances we have to be your church, to witness God among us, your son Jesus Christ. Throughout the world, many people want for many things: for adequate means of living, for peace in their homes and hearts and minds. O God, break with your light, into every place, so that no one can help but see, believe and to bear testimony to your life-giving hope. In our own neighbourhoods, Lord, we know that many are cold and hungry. Make us bold witnesses to your glory and grace, to share our blessings with those in need. To those who mourn, Lord, even in these days of celebration, we pray that you reveal your glory;  breathe strength into those who are lonely.  Be the joy within them and among us. By the good news of our salvation brought to Mary by the  angel, hear us, O Lord.

Lord, grant us peace.

By the mystery of the Word made flesh, hear us, O Lord.

Lord, grant us peace.

By the birth in time of the timeless Son of God, hear us, O Lord.

Lord, grant us peace.

By the manifestation of the King of glory to the shepherds and magi, hear us, O Lord.

Lord, grant us peace.

By the submission of the maker of the world to Mary and  Joseph of Nazareth, hear us, O Lord.

Lord, grant us peace.

By the baptism of the Son of God in the river Jordan, hear us, O Lord.

Lord, grant us peace.

Grant that the kingdoms of this world may become the  kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; hear us, O  Lord.

Lord, grant us peace.

Amen.
