his past Sunday Mike Koop arrived with a new song, written in response to the gospel reading for the week. Called “Jacob’s Well,” the song is a poetic imagining of the conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman recounted in John 4:1-42. A live-off-the-floor recording was made, and though it lacks the polish and balance of a studio recording we did think it well worth sharing. Mike is accompanied on this one by Charles Garinger (bass and vocals), Jodi McLaren (vocals), Larry Campbell (percussion and vocals), and Bob Hobson (percussion).

He sat down at Jacob’s Well and asked her for some water she said sir I’m Samaritan your request I can not honor – Please give me water pure clear water my thirst has brought me low please give me water pure clear water my thirst is all I know _ He said woman if you only knew about the cup I offer just drink of my dram so sure & sweet and you will live forever
I thought you were a prophet
when you told me who I am
But then you offered to set me free
Now I see and I believe in my soul
that your cup is all I need
