music on a Sunday night

l Fehr has blended together two songs – “40” from the 1983 U2 album War, and “Be at Rest” by our own Gord Johnson – to produce some pretty striking music for worship. The song “40” is actually based on Psalm 40, while “Be at Rest” is rooted in a verse from Psalm 116. Twice now we’ve used it as our communion music, and we have to say we think it really, really works.

This is a version recorded “off the floor” on Sunday August 7, with Al accompanied by Davis Plett on guitar, Charles Garinger on bass, and Trish Vrolijk on vocals. Just click on the arrow:

The vocals could have been amped up/made more clear. The medley was more or less seamless. Needs a little tweaking, but not much. Sounds good!
