Guide My Feet: an alternative version

n Sunday nights we often end up dipping into music from the black Gospel and slave church traditions, whether inspired by Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove (“I Will Trust in the Lord”), or under the leadership of Mike Koop, Larry Campbell or Al Fehr. At some point along the way, the classic “Guide My Feet” entered the repertoire, and for the longest time we did a pretty straight up version of the song. A few months back Larry introduced us to a new take on the song, which got the full treatment this past Sunday. Along with some great vocals, pay attention to Al’s soaring piano, as well as to Davis Plett’s very tasty work on the electric guitar. Recorded live off the floor, this one is a keeper.

Shouldn’t have picked last Sunday to visit St. Margaret’s.
