Purify my soul…

Purify my soul…

Live off the floor
T

his past Sunday evening, Gord Johnson had us singing an original song based on verses from Psalm 19, and we caught it all live off the floor on our great little hand-held recorder. You can hear the congregation grab hold of the words and sing out, and then Gord’s vocals take it all up another level. Sure, it is a bit raw, but what a wonderful song.

O, sweet law of the Lord, purify my soul (x4)
More to be desired than gold
Sweeter than the honeycomb
Giving joy to the heart
Giving light to the eyes…                           (x2)
O, sweet law of the Lord, purify my soul…

And those verses from Psalm 19:

7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the decrees of the Lord are sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is clear,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring for ever;
the ordinances of the Lord are true
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey,
and drippings of the honeycomb.
