Theology in the Dark | The Way

A journey on The Way

Join us on Monday November 28, when we’ll be heading to the Globe Theatre in Portage Place for the 7pm showing of The Way, the new film starring Martin Sheen, and directed and produced by Emilio Estevez.  The film tells the story of a father’s journey along the Camino de Santiago –the historic 800 kilometre Christian pilgrimage across the north of Spain – as he seeks to fulfill the dreams of his adult son who had been killed in an accident on the opening leg of the pilgrim trail.

Calling it one of Sheen’s most powerful performances, the Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers encourages the viewer to “open yourself up to this thoughtful, moving personal adventure and you’re in for a uniquely memorable experience.” Adding that by “gradually revealing a man painfully getting reacquainted with long buried feelings” Sheen “gives the film its bruised heart.”

We’ll meet by the ticket area at the Globe Theatre at 6:45pm on the 28th, and then after viewing the film together will head somewhere close for coffee and conversation.
