Prayers of the People | June 3

God of Redemption, pour out your spirit upon your holy catholic church so that, reborn of the spirit, we may see your kingdom with clarity & work for its fulfillment on earth.

Lord, in your mercy… …Hear our prayer.

We pray for your Chosen People of Israel and for the peace of Jerusalem. By your grace we have been grafted onto this holy tree of life. Honour your eternal covenants with your Chosen Ones so that your glory will be revealed in Zion & all nations will know that YOU are God.

Lord, in your mercy… …Hear our prayer.

Abba, we thank you that we are no longer slaves to fear. By the gift of your spirit we have been made your sons & daughters, heirs with Christ in eternal life. Strengthen us as we also share in the suffering of Christ, and lead us to live according to your spirit rather than our sinful natures.

Lord, in your mercy… …Hear our prayer.

We hold before you those corners of the world where people suffer poverty, injustice, oppression & abuses – especially Syria, Sudan & Somalia. We also pray for the Palestinians. Restore these peoples  to dignity, freedom, equality, prosperity, hope & peace, for the sake of your kingdom.

Lord, in your mercy… …Hear our prayer.

Our land has jumped to life in vibrant green colour after generous rains, and we begin to bask in warm rays of sunshine. Just as your have cleansed & renewed our gardens, yards, parks & croplands, so too God create in us a clean heart & renew a right spirit within us. Restore in us the joy of your salvation, now & always.

Lord, in your mercy… …Hear our prayer.

We pray for this community of St. Benedict’s Table and our priest, Jamie Howison. Bless the missions we’re connected with –  El Shaddai in Haiti, Agape Table & other core ministries in Winnipeg. We entrust in your loving care all who are anxious or distressed in mind or body, especially those we name before you…

For those named aloud, and those held in the quiet of our hearts, and for those for whom we have forgotten to pray, bring comfort, healing & wholeness to each according to their need.

Lord, in your mercy… …Hear our prayer.

We remember loved ones who have departed, and we pray for all those who mourn their passing. We also pray for those who grieve other losses in life. Ease their pain, & bring them your enduring peace.

Lord, in your mercy… …Hear our prayer.

Into your hands, oh Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
