Prayers of the People | July 1

God of All Creation – it’s Canada Day! We thank you for our wonderful country. Today we celebrate our demoncrcy. And we are ever grateful we can worship you together in peace and security. Thank-you for the many blessings we have here in this province in this country. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

We pray for the universal church of which st.benedict’s table is a part. We pray for the whole church in all its many forms around the world. Please continue to guide the church and love the church and bless the church –  it is the body of Christ – that all Christians may be one in unity and integrity. And may the church be faithful to proclaim the Gospel of Christ. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

All-powerful God – we pray for our world, and especially for peace in the world.  We pray specifically for peace in Egypt and Syria. These are countries wracked with internal strife and many people have been killed by their own governments. Hear our lament for all those lives lost …..  God we pray that voices of wisdom and peace would be heard and followed in those countries. We pray too for Greece and the whole European community as they struggle through difficult times economically. Please guide govenment leaders around the world, and in Canda too, that they would act with wisdom and integrity. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Our Loving God – we pray for our city and for all who live here, the poor and the wealthy, the elderly and the young, Men and women, that your abundant goodness will be experienced by all.  We pray for all those who are the sick and for all those who minister to them – especially the doctors and nurses in our hospitals. Guide their eyes and hands as they work with their patients. Strengthen our medical professionals as their work is becoming more and more challenging. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Our Father God – Abba – we remember before you friends and loved ones who have died and pray for those who are grieving. Comfort them we ask. We commend before you all who are are anxous or distressed as we pray their names out loud …. comfort them in their needs and give them patience in their struggles. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Merciful God, accept these our prayers in the name of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
