Prayers of the People | September 16

Our God of mercy and justice, we pray for the church universal of which our church is a small part. We pray for the whole church in all it’s many forms. Please continue to guide the church and love the church and bless the church – the body of Christ. We thank you for our Bishop – Bishop Don and our minister Jamie as well as the other leaders of our church, Larry, Gord Jaylene and members of the kitchen table. May our church community be faithful to proclaim the Gospel of Christ. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Sovreign Lord God – we pray for our world. We pray especially for our Muslim friends. We pray that a spirit of peace would prevail and that attacks against real or imagined enemies would stop. We pray that voices of peace and moderation would prevail in countires like Egypt and Syria and Iran and Afganistan. Please guide government leaders around the world and in Canada too, that they would act and speak with integrity and a peaceful intent. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Our loving God – we pray for our city and for all who live here. We pray once again for the men and women who rely on Agape Table for food and other supports. We pray that Agape Table would be well-staffed and that men and women would find a blessing there. Thank-you we can be part of that ministry. We pray that you would bless our gifts as well as our givers. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Our faithful God, we thank-you for the work done by Dr. Pierre Plourde, and his wife Krista and family with the people of Haiti. We pray for Hands for Haiti that you would bless that ministry and espcially for the Haitians who continue to rebuild their country on so many different levels. We thank you for the people Pierre and his family work with and we lift them up before you. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our Prayer.

God of all creation – we have been reminded by the Scripture readings last week and this evening that according to the Bible, faith without works is dead. So we pray that we would indeed live out our faith in the things we do and the things we say. May we be the people we claim to be. By your Holy Spirit, may our faith be vibrant and alive and visible to the watching and waiting world all around us. Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

We pray in the Name above all names / Christ Jesus our Lord / Amen.
