A new book from saint benedict’s table
At saint benedict’s table we’re big fans of Advent, and to this end we’ve produced a book of daily readings for the season. Titled In Days to Come, this book is designed to give readers at least five or ten minutes a day to retreat from the busy-ness of the wider society’s version of Christmas, and to dwell in the church’s alternative.
Edited by Kyla Neufeld and Adam Kroeker, with cover design by Mike Severloh and featuring contributions by Steve Bell, Jaylene Johnson, Jamie Howison, and Rachel Twigg-Boyce, In Days to Come also includes a cycle of seven sonnets based on the Advent “O Antiphons,” shared by our guest contributor, the Cambridge theologian and poet Malcolm Guite.
Copies will be available November 18 at the saint benedict’s table Sunday evening liturgy, but you can also pre-order one via email and we’ll send it to you in time for the beginning of the Advent season. Simply click here to contact us, and we’ll be in touch to make the arrangements. The book will be available for only $5 at the church, or $7 for copies sent by mail.
And the book includes lyrics and links to listen to some music, including new songs for the season by Steve Bell and a version of the Magnificat by Jaylene Johnson. To listen to a sample of “Oracles” by Steve, followed with an excerpt from Jaylene’s “Amazing Love,” simply click the arrow:
