Prayers of the People | November 11

Lord of Hosts, we pray for your holy catholic church, that all of its teachers, leaders & representatives will embrace your law with humble hearts & spirits. Inspire us to offer of ourselves all that we can from our worldly gifts, personal talents & time, in love & service to You, for the sake of your Kingdom.

Lord, in your mercy…

We pray for your Chosen People of Israel and for the peace of Jerusalem. By your grace we have been grafted onto this holy tree of life. Honour your eternal covenants with your Chosen Ones so that your glory will be revealed in Zion & all nations will know that YOU are God.

Lord, in your mercy…

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the perfect sacrifice made by Jesus, in whose precious blood we are cleansed from our sins & forgiven – for once & for all time. Jesus stands before your presence, interceding on our behalf. We eagerly await Christ’s second coming and his promise of salvation.

Lord, in your mercy…

On this day of remembrance, we lament & honour the sacrifices made by our countrymen for our security & freedom – those whose earthly lives were lost or damaged forever. We pray that their sacrifice is not in vain. God – protect & bless all those who put themselves in harm’s way for our sake & toil for peace & justice in this troubled world. Look with kindness on regions of conflict & bring your lasting calm & liberation.

Lord, in your mercy…

Merciful Lord, bring relief & restoration to the victims of hurricane Sandy & the Guatemalan earthquake. We also pray for Syria & Iran – that oppression, violence & threat of war will give way to reconciliation & stability. Please guide the newly re-elected American government in its quest for prosperity for all, equality & freedom both domestically & internationally.

Lord, in your mercy…

We pray for this community of St. Benedict’s Table and our priest, Jamie Howison. Bless the missions we’re connected with –  El Shaddai in Haiti, Agape Table & other core ministries in Winnipeg. We entrust in your loving care all who are anxious or distressed in mind or body, especially those we name before you…

For those named aloud, and those held in the quiet of our hearts, and for those for whom we have forgotten to pray, bring comfort, healing & wholeness to each according to their need.

Lord, in your mercy…

We remember loved ones who have departed, and we pray for all those who mourn their passing. We also pray for those who grieve other losses in life. Ease their pain, & bring them your enduring peace.

Lord, in your mercy…

Into your hands, oh Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
