Prayers of the People | June 9

Heavenly Father, we pray for your holy catholic church. enable us as the living body of Christ to be good citizens of the world & our respective nations. At the same time may we keep the true allegiance of our hearts, minds & souls with the kingdom of heaven in joyful commitment & ultimate obedience to your Word.

Lord, in your mercy…

We pray for your Chosen People of Israel and for the peace of Jerusalem. By your grace we have been grafted onto this holy tree of life. Honour your eternal covenants with your Chosen Ones so that your glory will be revealed in Zion & all nations will know that YOU are God.

Lord, in your mercy…

God, you know every inch of our being – every physical contour, every though, every feeling, every yearning, every failing & struggle. You know us better than we know ourselves, and yet you love us. You have chosen us, called each of us by name & made us heirs to the throne of grace in Christ Jesus. Help us to draw close to you & to fulfill your purpose in our lives.

Lord, in your mercy…

Yahweh, we hold before you this troubled world, especially those regions in Africa  & the Middle East plagued by uprising, dictatorship, bloodshed & famine. Look after victims of religious persecution- especially Christians in Egypt, Sudan, Pakistan & China. We pray that those of our Muslim brothers who are driven by rage & hatred will be opened to the way of peace & find mutual understanding. We also pray for continued re-building from natural disasters, especially in Haiti, Oklahoma, & central Europe.

Lord, in your mercy…

We pray for our priest, Jamie Howison & our Diocesan Bishop Don Phillips, as well as our newly ordained Deacons, Helen Holbrook & Alison Chubb. Guide them in their church ministries & keep them near.  Bless  El Shaddai in Haiti, Agape Table, & Manitoba House. As both Pioneer Camp & the Plett family prepare for another summer camp program, bring joyful experiences & meaningful moments of discovery to every participant.  We entrust in your loving care all who are anxious or distressed in mind or body, especially those we name before you…

For those named aloud, and those held in the quiet of our hearts, and for those for whom we have forgotten to pray, bring comfort, healing & wholeness to each according to their need.

Lord, in your mercy…

We remember loved ones who have departed, and we pray for all those who mourn their passing. We also pray for those who grieve other losses in life. Ease their pain, & bring them your enduring peace.

Lord, in your mercy…

Into your hands, oh Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
