Prayers of the People | June 12, 2016

I call the community into a time of prayer.

Merciful God, we pray for your church throughout the world. May all who call themselves Christians be marked by a spirit of unity and lead in your ways of peace and love. We pray for all who minister in Christ’s name, that they will be faithful to you.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Creating and sustaining God, we pray for a world marked increasingly by violence and hatred. We pray for the countless people affected by violence, war, and strife. We grieve the senseless loss of life in the Orlando shooting last night, and we grieve the victims, and with their friends and families. We pray for an end to violence against and hatred for the LGBTQ community here and abroad. And we pray for those who use your name to justify such hatred. Make your ways known on earth.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

We pray for this city of Winnipeg and all who call this place home. May your goodness and love be known by everyone. May those who serve our less fortunate brothers and sisters be blessed, especially those who work at Agape Table and at the various ministries represented here.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Loving God, we pray for this congregation of saint benedict’s table and for the needs of this community. We commend all who are suffering in mind, body, or spirit. We speak aloud those names of those in need to prayer.

For those named, those recalled in the quiet of our hearts, and, especially, for those whom we forgotten,

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Grant a peaceful end to all those who are dying and comfort the grieving.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Merciful Lord, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Composed and led by Michael Boyce.
