Prayers of the People | May 29, 2016

God of grace, enliven your holy catholic church by your spirit that we may be secure in our faith and strengthened for your service. We pray for our bishops, priests, pastors, ministry leaders, teachers, parents, and all who guide us in our faith, that they might have the wisdom and courage to preach the peace of Christ’s gospel with their lives.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

We pray for your Chosen People of Israel and for the peace of Jerusalem. By your grace we have been grafted onto this holy tree of life. Honour your eternal covenants with your Chosen ones so that your glory will be revealed in Zion and all nations will know that you are God.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Omnipotent God, you know the longings of each heart among us, the struggles of each soul – every weakness, every need, every sorrow, every anguish, every yearning, every regret. We place them all at your feet, not knowing what to ask for or how, trusting that the Holy Spirit will intercede on our behalf in accordance with your will for us. Hear our inward groans. Give us all that we truly need, all that will fulfill us in this life, and anchor us in the love you poured out for us in Christ Jesus – a love from which we can never be separated.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Like the Centurion, we are unworthy to come before you or have you enter our house – yet, here we stand, because you called us, and justified us, as your adopted sons and daughters. Jesus, just speak the word, and we will be healed. Spirit of truth, heal us, reconcile us, break the bonds of the oppressed, give sanctuary to refugees, end the exile of those who are marginalized, and pour your love into all hearts, especially those we name before you…..

Bring your comfort and healing to mind, body and soul. We remember those near to us who have departed, and we pray for all those who mourn, especially the family of Helen Lyons – Martin, Kevin and Krista. Be near and hold them in their grief.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Father of Jesus, keep us mindful of how we use the names of others. Keep us from bearing false witness and help us honour your name above all others.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Triune God, we pray for this house of worship and the planning for the viable redevelopment of this property of All Saints Anglican Church. Give vision to the committee heading this project…. inspire our imaginations to see the best possibilities that will serve the three congregations who meet here, Agape Table, and most importantly the myriad needs of this unique inner city neighbourhood. Breathe new life into this property, and incorporate it into the building of your Kingdom.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Creator, we give thanks for the rains you brought to Manitoba’s parched land this week. We ask for rain in northern Alberta to bring an end to the wild fires, and help for Fort McMurray as its citizens begin to rebuild their city and lives.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

As the Plett family prepares to host another summer day camp at their property in the Birds Hill area, we pray for your blessing on this mission. We ask that newcomer children who are sponsored to attend will have fun, make friends, learn new things, and experience the love and peace of Christ in a tranquil setting.

Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

We lift our prayers to you, oh God, trusting your promise to hear, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
