He is risen!

He is risen!

We closed our Easter liturgy with a song that has become a real standard for us when we celebrate resurrection. Written by Gord Johnson, this version was led by Anna Bigland-Pritchard, Breanna Heinrichs, Larry Campbell, and Charles Garinger. It is a great song, and one that really gets our community singing.

In the morning

On the third day

When the sun shone

On a brand new dawning

Sister Mary rose up early

And she wondered

Who would roll away the stone?

(Who’d have known?)

Then the whole earth shook and the stone gave way

there was nothing in the tomb where the Lord had laid

the angels sang and the rocks cried out

and the saints joined in with a mighty shout

The sinners danced to the good news call

that the crucified Christ wasn’t dead at all

the mountains sang and the skies rejoiced

and they all came together with one great voice

           He’s risen

           He is risen

           Alleluia, Christ is risen

Alleluia, He is risen from the dead

           He is risen

           Alleluia, Christ is risen
