“I Called Your Name”

“I Called Your Name”

To open worship on the 4th Sunday of Lent, Tim Plett had our musicians offer up a pretty scorching version of Gord Johnson’s setting of the opening verses of Psalm 40. The interplay between Mike Penner’s violin and Davis Plett’s electric guitar provided a driving musical foundation on which the words were not only offered but almost embedded in the congregation’s collective soul. Along with Mike, Davis and Tim, the ensemble also included Larry Campbell, Nadine Plourde, and Cale Plett.

As is usual with the audio posted on our site, the recording was done “live off the floor” on a hand-held digital recorder, with no additional engineering or production work.

I called Your name

You heard my cry

Lifted me up out of the mire

Set my feet on a rock.

The Lord be exalted.

(Gord Johnson, from Psalm 40)
