New songs for Eastertide

New songs for Eastertide

Two new songs for Eastertide, written by Jaylene Johnson and used in worship on Sunday April 26, 2015. These are very raw and basic recordings of the two songs, with Jaylene on guitar and vocals, Davis Plett on electric guitar, Callaway Stephanson-Pate on vocals, and Larry Campbell on bass and vocals.

First up is “The Good Shepherd,” which was offered as our opening contemplative song.

I am the good, good shepherd

I am the good, good shepherd

And my Father knows me

I hear His voice

And he loves me for my triumphant choice

I lay down my life for the sheep

I am the good, good shepherd

I am the good, good shepherd

And my sheep know me

My sheep hear my voice

And they love me for my triumphant choice

I lay down my life for the sheep

No one takes it from me

I lay it down

Next is “He is Risen,” which was offered as one of our songs during communion. Kinda got the place swinging…

He is Risen

He is risen indeed

Alleluia, Alleluia

He is Risen

He is risen indeed

Alleluia

Praise our Savior Jesus for amazing grace

He who conquered Hell when He stormed the gate

Just like He said he would

He rose again

He is risen indeed

Chains are broken

Chains are broken indeed

Alleluia, Alleluia

Chains are broken

Chains are broken indeed

Alleluia, Alleluia

He has broken every chain of sin and death

Now we’re wrapped up in Redeeming Love instead

And we can walk in freedom through our final breath

Chains are broken indeed

He is risen…

We’re forgiven

We’re forgiven indeed

Alleluia, Alleluia

We’re forgiven

We’re forgiven indeed

Alleluia, Alleluia

All the shame that held us on a distant shore

Has been tossed in the sea and is remembered no more

Now we go boldly dancing through an open door

We’re forgiven indeed
