Something old, something new…

One of the songs that has become a saint ben’s standard is “Be Our Light,” written back in 2006 by Jenny Moore and based on a traditional hymn text by Frederick Faber. Every time we sing this one it seems that we discover something new about it… and here Trish Vrolijk pretty much nails Jenny’s “feel” without merely mimicking the original. To hear the version from Sunday October 19, 2014, simply click the arrow:

But in our context it makes no sense to keep revisiting “standards” without also offering new songs. Here’s an original by Charles Garinger, that picks up on the basic shape of Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” and takes it in a new direction.
