“There’s No Way Out of Here”

“There’s No Way Out of Here”

To close our liturgy on Good Friday, Steve Bell and Larry Campbell led us in a song written by Alana Levandoski. “There’s No Way Out of Here (Easter Eve)” gives voice to the loss experienced that first Good Friday, and to our own longings for fulfillment.

The original version of this song is available on Alana’s “Hymns from the Desert” CD. You can also listen to the version Alana offered in last year’s Good Friday liturgy by clicking here.

Its over now
And we are lost
In a desert without tears
Guess it wasn’t what we thought
Wish we could turn back the years

But there’s no way out of here
There’s no way out of here
There’s no way out of here

Its over now
So say good-bye
But our mouths can’t shape the words
Shut your doors
Don’t even try
’cause no matter what you’ve heard

There’s no way out of here
There’s no way out of here
There’s no way out of here

Come back
Please come back

Wake up
Please wake up

’cause there’s no way out of here
There’s no way out of here
There’s no way out of here
(words and music by Alana Levandoski)
