Trimmed and burning…

Trimmed and burning…

Last night in worship, Mike Koop decided to offer up an arrangement of the traditional gospel-blues song, “Keep your lamp trimmed and burning.” It was a fitting selection, given that the gospel reading for the evening was the parable of the wise and foolish bridesmaids from Matthew 25:1-13.

Along with Mike on guitar and vocals, this ensemble included Davis Plett on electric guitar, Charles Garinger on bass and vocals, and Larry Campbell on percussion and vocals.

Keep your lamp trimmed and burning
keep your lamp trimmed and burning
keep your lamp trimmed and burning
see what the Lord
the Lord has done

Now don’t you get worried
no don’t you get worried
no don’t you get worried
see what the Lord, the Lord has done
see what the Lord, the Lord has done
(traditional, arranged by Mike Koop)
