Two Hymns for Advent

Two Hymns for Advent

Here’s the audio of re-imagined versions of two hymns for the Advent season, offered up by a trio comprised of Jaylene Johnson on piano and vocals, Mike Penner on violin, and Larry Campbell on bass and vocals.

  • First up is an excerpt of their version of “O come, O come Emmanuel”; the verses we’ve got recorded here are “O come, thou Rod of Jesse,” “O come, thou Dayspring,” and “O come, thou Key of David.”

Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.
