Two songs from June 23

T he music for our liturgy on Sunday June 23 was led by an ensemble that takes a couple of veterans (Tim Plett on bass and vocals, and Larry Campbell on percussion and vocals) and lands them in the midst of some much younger players (Davis Plett on guitar, Cale Plett on guitar, Jase Falk on banjo, Shayne Martens on percussion, and Paul Currie on vocals), resulting in a pretty unique sound.

First up is their version of Gord Johnson’s song, “Everything We Need.”

In the morning Lord we do look to you

For the strength we need just to make it through

Have mercy

In the evening Lord we look back and say

It was in your strength that we made our way

Have mercy

You are everything we need

Feed us Lord

The second one closed the evening’s liturgy, and is clearly the noisiest song we’ve ever done in church; a cover of the Switchfoot song “Afterlife.” Fasten your seatbelt!
