Gord Johnson | words & music

F

or our January 2011 session of ideaExchange, we decided to invite Gord Johnson – the artist-in-residence for saint benedict’s table – to offer an evening of music and conversation. As he notes in his introductory remarks, Gord doesn’t often find himself playing in a concert format, so this evening provided a rare opportunity for him to play facing an audience and sharing an wide range of his original songs.

Gord is best known around saint benedict’s table as the composer of music for worship, and many of the songs have become standards in our liturgies. Eight of Gord’s songs are featured on Steve Bell’s Devotion album, while a version of his song Stubble and Hay appears on Steve’s latest CD, Kindness.

Gord’s 1993 solo disc Stubble and Hay can be purchased through both iTunes and emusic.

This concert was recorded live off the floor at Aqua Books, and has not been professionally remixed, overdubbed or mastered.
