After our house fire in June, we walked through the ruins with Noah. All we could see was devastation, but he found this parable. It reminds me of the hope we find at Epiphany, and of this verse:

See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the LORD rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
Isaiah 60:2
