2023-24 Artist Residencies

Adam & Mary Jane Kroeker and Karen Cornelius

This collaborative project bring together three artists from our community. Mary Jane Kroeker is a fabric artist, painter, architect and mother whose work is always looking for the simple beauty of everyday life. Adam Kroeker is a poet, fiction writer, musician, urban planner and father. Karen Cornelius is a printmaker, visual artist, mother, and grandmother who makes work about place, belonging and the environment.

Over the course of their 6-month residency, the artists will develop an online illustrated prayer book for children and  families, based on the liturgical calendar. They will explore the possibilities of leading families at the saint benedict’s table 4pm service through guided arts activities, so that children from the community may contribute images to the prayer book.

Sarah Hodges-Kolisnyk

Sarah is a photographer and curator. Sarah’s two-month residency will help her begin a place-based analogue photo project called 72096. (Watch an earlier inspiration for the project.)  The project combines Sarah’s critical interest in the correlation between the photographic image and history-making with her delight in the wonders of the natural world.

Rachel Coleman

Rachel is a songwriter, piano teacher, musician and worship leader. Many will know her music from our Sunday-evening services! When the. global pandemic opened up a spaciousness of free-time in Rachel’s life, she found inspiration in writing songs. Rachel’s four-month residency will be dedicated to recording an album of twelve of those original songs, which focus on themes of wrestling, hope, praise, lament, and healing.
