And God Prepared the Dry Land

This lecture dealing with climate change and theology was delivered by Dr. David Widdicombe at St Margaret’s Anglican Church on June 6, 2019. We are grateful to David for his permission to share the lecture in this podcast format, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

Prior to the outbreak of the Covid-19 global pandemic, we had planned to record a second lecture by Dr. Widdicombe to be released later in this week, but have not been able to do that. We will do our best to make that available on the other side of this current health and social crisis, but in the meantime would commend to you some other recent material from our community.

  1. From our Lenten series, a presentation by Zoe Matties and Karen Cornelius on creation care:

2. Zoe Matties’ ideaExchange presentation from January 2020, on “looking for hope”:

3. A video of a project by Karen Cornelius

Karen Cornelius’s project from her November 2019 artist residency

Yes, we are most certainly in the midst of the crisis that is the covid-19 global pandemic, but let us not too quickly forget the continuing crisis that is climate change. On the other side of the pandemic, maybe we will have discovered we have learned a few things about choices, priorities, and possibilities that can be set to work caring for our struggling planet.
