Our music podcast series
One of the things we started doing during the covid time when we were unable to gather together in the church building was to create regular music podcasts, each featuring a song or two by musicians connected to our saint ben’s community. For several months we did this weekly, but beginning in September 2020 they appeared just once or twice a month.
We celebrate the gifts of our songwriters and musicians, and see these podcasts as a way to affirm them in their musical vocations, whether they are working professional musicians or people who do this work simply for the love of it.
Some are older songs drawn from the CDs we recorded more than a decade back, some are drawn from existing albums by individual artists, and some are brand new recordings created during these days of the global pandemic. We thought it a good idea to provide the links to all of them on this one blog post, to make it easier to locate them.
The very first one we did was actually intended as a “one off” podcast. Released on March 15, it featured a song by Jenny Moore and a longish reflection by Jamie Howison. As the weeks wore on, however, the idea of producing these on a more regular basis surfaced, and so now we have a rich list to share with you.
