Three New Songs Considering the Lilies
I'm sure you've heard or at least heard about the music that was inspired by our most recent podcast on the Consider the Lilies Conference by Zoe Matties and Beth Downey-Sawattzky.
Well, here they are
The first one is called Grandeur by Rob Kwade, based the God’s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins.
God's Grandeur
The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil
Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod?
Generations have trod, have trod, have trod;
And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil;
And wears man's smudge and shares man's smell: the soil
Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod.
And for all this, nature is never spent;
There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs —
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.
The second one is called Mudlark by Rachel Colman featuring Rob Kwade on the Guitar. The whole conversation on the Mudlark resonated with Rachel, and this song came in an evening.
The Third is called The Tamarack Tree by Andrew Colman, featuring Zoe Matties. It was inspired by this photo taken by Zoe of the Red Rossettes of the Tamarack Tree.
If you were inspired and created something by either this podcast or anything else that has come from the life of saint ben's I would love to hear it! And there very well might be a place for it to be featured here sometime as well.
We do hope you enjoy these three pieces of music.
Hope to See you at Theology by the Glass on Tuesday!
In Christ,
Andrew+
