With Gratitude to Mike Koop: a music podcast
Mike Koop has been leading a music ensemble at saint ben’s since the Autumn of 2004, but his tenure is now ending as he moves with his family to Calgary. We decided it would be fitting to put together this retrospective podcast combining a sampling of some of his recorded songs with reflections from Steve Bell, Larry Campbell, Charles Garinger, Gord Johnson, and Rob Kwade.
During his time with us Mike contributed four songs to our 2006 CD project We Will Not Be Silent, added a song to our 2009 book and CD collection Beautiful Mercy, recorded a full studio album in 2010 under the name “Mike Koop’s Multitude of Sins”, and most recently released a solo acoustic album called Brutal, which serves as a recorded archive of some of the best material he wrote for use in our liturgy.
If you’re interested in getting your hands on an actual CD copy of either the 2006 We Will Not Be Silent album or the one by Mike Koop’s Multitude of Sins (it is called “Music is Worthless,” which is actually about the last thing Mike actually thinks!), please contact us and we’ll put them in the mail to you for the cost of packaging and shipping.
