Words, Music and Images for Good Friday

A video created for Good Friday 2021, featuring music and art from our community. Included are visual contributions from Helen Lyons, Kevin Grummett, Sarah Hodges-Kolisnyk, and Karen Cornelius, with music and sound from Anass Quinten, Steve Bell, Gord Johnson, Larry Campbell, and Jamie Howison.

A note about the Audio Collage created by Anass. The collage incorporates Gord Johnson’s song, “Into the Darkness,” with an array of background sounds. Anass writes:

I tried to imagine how a crowd of people in a market sounded like in the times of Jesus. Then I remembered a movie about the Gospel that was filmed in Morocco, because of the similarity of its traditional markets to ancient ambience in a public space, and the resemblance of the Moroccan dialect to the Aramaic dialect noise.

I found a background noise recording online that is free to use for art. It was recorded by BBC in 2004, in a traditional market in Rabat, Morocco.
