I am Waiting: a music podcast

This Advent music podcast features the song "I am Waiting," written, performed, and recorded by Rob Kwade in his home studio.

The quotation from Dietrich Bonhoeffer in the introduction to the podcast is from a sermon titled, “The Coming of Jesus in our Midst,” published in A Testament to Freedom: The Essential Writings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Harper San Francisco, 1995.

Rob also provided the image for the post, which he describes as representing, “My time ‘waiting’ in the Assistens Cemetery in Copenhagen, having a particularly lengthy WTF discussion with Kierkegaard at the foot of his grave.”

I am waiting

Waiting for the moon, to answer all the lies

Waiting for the gems, to be placed in the skies

Waiting for the sun, to rise a little late

Waiting for the gold, to finally laminate

Waiting for the ground, foundations of this earth

Waiting for our dirt, to cradle new birth

Waiting for a great light, for people prone to death

Waiting for restoration, to escape in our breath

I am waiting

Waiting for an unveiling, for things to turn around

Waiting for the ashes, to finally make a sound

Waiting for the shadows, to release all of their light

Waiting for this mountain, to relinquish the fight

Waiting for the ruins, to finally be rebuilt

Waiting for this spirit, of heaviness to melt

Waiting for the poor, to reclaim their good news

Waiting for the captive, to escape the noose

Waiting for the ramblings, of the displaced vagabond

To be heard as poetry

I’m waiting for the One
